5 Tips For Protecting Your Electronics During a Move

Moving or changing locations is a normal part of our lives. At one time we all need to change the environment and experience a change due to varied reasons. Most people have expressed concerns especially when it comes to packing electronics. Electronics are delicate and if not well packed and protected they may end up broken and unusable. This is the part all of us agree we don’t like. We need to save the bucks and spend them elsewhere.

Electronics such as televisions, microwaves, cookers, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, blenders, toasters, washing machines, driers, and many others come with packaging on purchase. Do you always find these packages annoying because they occupy a lot of space in the house? Well, you are not alone. Many people do so. However, during a move many have regretted having thrown useful packing cartons, boxes, and packaging. This is not the end of the world of course you gotta move and you need to securely transport your electronics. In this article, I will share 5 tips I have always found helpful to those making a move. I have been working as a mover for years and these tips are tested and tried and fully confirmed!

use the manual and understand sensitive areas of your electronics

Manuals are easily ignored. Most end up in bins. It is easy to plug a washing machine and keep it running from our previous experience so we may not need to look at manuals. However, the most important information is in the manual. Different brands have different mechanisms of producing electronics and the mode of operation may not always be the same for all appliances. Please remember to check the manuals and see what areas of the appliance are especially delicate. Remember to check the DONTS because they will help you keep the appliance for a long. The best way to prepare your devices for a move is to review the manufacturer’s guide. This will outline any special steps you may need to take to prepare it to be moved or stored. Most guides are available online through the manufacturer’s website.

Pack your electronics in cartons, boxes, and packaging

Remember to look for good cartons and boxes for packing your electronics. If you dumped your original packing boxes please look for cartons that can protect your electronics. One way to easily get these cartons is to look for a mover who has these cartons. Most movers would come with their packaging and this will save you some bucks. 805 Movers in California promises to take care of your electronics when moving so we are always ready with our packing boxes.

unplug your electronics 24 hours before packing them

Some household electronics especially those used in the kitchen are used for heat supply. When not unplugged before they may not be easy to move them. Time is needed for these electronics to cool. If not cool they may burn the packing cartons and even cause fire.

Take a picture before unplugging and unassembling your electronics

Taking a picture before dissembling electronics helps when connecting the electronics in the new residence. This helps ensure you do not confuse sockets, and how the connection was done before the move. It is easy to reference from the photos and make the connection. However, if you forget, you may refer to the manufacturer’s guide, or even watch a YouTube video to help you remember.

Cover your electronics

You can wrap the items with plastic to prevent dust from getting into the fan and other mechanisms during your move. You should also use thick blankets to prevent any dents or surface scratching on larger electronics.
